Palm Beach Landmark Residence by SMI Landscape Architecture
Palm Beach, FL

SMI Landscape Architecture designed the gardens for this historic house in Palm Beach in keeping with the style and age of the house. They created a series of formal and informal spaces that flow and connect while keeping a sense of mystery. In this garden, SMI used terracotta pots to define and separate the spaces and provide garden accents.

In the East Garden handmade Italian terra cotta urns planted with flowering trees are placed in the arches of the hedge to slightly obscure the view through the arches and maintain an air of mystery as to what lies beyond.
In the Koi Pond Garden, SMI used small terra cotta rolled rim planters instead of a railing to mark the edge of the steps and create a buffer between the water and the staircase.
