In Situ

InSitu is an eight-acre garden where nature and art dramatically interact. Landscape designer Richard Hartlage of LandMorphology created a series of eighteen open-air garden rooms that seamlessly weave together architecture, horticulture and sculpture.

On the terraces around the house, Hartlage used Guy Wolff planters from the American Collection and classic planters to reflect the traditional nature of the Connecticut house and garden. He also used lots of shallow bowls and low boxes to provide pools of color without filling the space around it. In the landscape, he placed large Alto Vases  to provide scale and make a bold statement.
